Description
Front elevations of 154-172 New Kent Road (south side), Walworth. Numbers 154-170 form a terrace of nine late eighteenth-century four-storey houses with columns and fanlights at front doors, and with basements and front gardens. The terrace of houses is extant and Grade II listed, list entry number 1385716. At the far end of the terrace at 172 is Ada Lewis Women's Lodging House, a Grade II listed building, list entry number 1391567. Built in 1912 and opened in 1913 by HRH Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyll, it offered affordable lodgings for single working women. Renamed as Driscoll House in 1968 and re-purposed as a hotel, it is still extant.
