Interior of a house in Cumberland Terrace
Description
A view of the staircase at 17 Cumberland Terrace, Regent's Park. The stairs are uncarpeted. The banister is wood and the stair posts appear to be cast metal, with single posts and occasional more complex supports with wreaths, key and other designs, including at the newel post. The floor has marble edging and the walls are panelled. A leather covered dining chair is visible at the foot of the stairs. A window lights the landing. The monumental palace-style terrace of 59 houses was built about 1827 and designed by John Nash and J Thomson. Numbers 1-59 Cumberland Terrace and their railings were Grade I listed in 1974; listing number 1067386.
