Description
A view of the front elevations of terraced houses in Charrington Street, Somers Town, looking north from Aldenham Street. At the corner is GW Tranter, groceries and hardware. Products advertised on the wall include Mansion floor polish. The shop windows advertise Lyons and Typhoo tea, Cherry Blossom shoe polish and Senior Service cigarettes. It also advertises wood for 2-1/2d a bundle, "blue" heating oil and birdcage sand. The shop and houses along the road have two floors of accommodation over the ground floor and are two windows wide. The ground floor and basements are stucco covered. A man is visible on the step of the house next to the shop and nearby is someone with a plastic rain cover on their head. A man is crossing the road. Several cars are parked in the road including one with registration number GT7776. The buildings on this side of Charrington Street no longer exist and the area has been redeveloped for other housing.
