A view of former stables buildings at Chalk Farm railway stables, Chalk Farm Road, Chalk Farm. The taller building is the end elevation of the former Horse Hospital, one of several buildings that formed the stables complex. One low-rise building has a studded door and small window facing the courtyard. Other buildings are two and three storeys. A number of vehicles are parked in the yard including a Ford Escort van, a BMC Mini van and a Ford Cortina Mark II with registration number TON487S. A man is walking near the cars. At its peak, around 700-800 horses were used at the Camden Goods Depot, which was served by the stables. The buildings still exist as part of the Stables market. Built c1855-70, the sidings and stables were Grade II listed in 1981; listing number 1258101. Dating from 1882-83 and extended in 1897, the horse hospital was Grade II* listed in 1981; listing number 1258100.
