Interior of 22 Mornington Crescent
Description
View of an internal, first-floor, rear room being partly used as a kitchen at 22 Mornington Crescent, Camden. There is a woman seated with her hand over her mouth. A chair with some clothing on it is next to her. Behind her is a newspaper. There is a sash window half covered by net curtains together with a full-length pair of curtains. An air vent can be seen in the window. There is a wash basin with a water heater above. Two pairs of fur-lined boots can be seen below the wash basin together with some rolled-up cloths. A rubber hot water bottle can be seen behind the water heater. There is a tall, narrow kitchen cupboard with doors, of which one has a glass panel. A bucket and a plastic bowl are on the floor. There is a small table in a corner with a plastic bowl, a mug and a washing-up liquid container visible. There are paper bags with newspapers above. A small, two-ring gas hob can be seen with a kettle atop. Above a fireplace is a mantlepiece where some toilet rolls, a book, a candle and a box of matches are visible. Two calendars are on a wall. There is a mirror over the fireplace. Wallpaper is hanging from a corner of the ceiling. There is a bare lightbulb hanging from a light fitting. The house was built by I. Bryant, as part of a terrace forming a crescent in 1821-32 and is Grade II listed; listing number 1113138. The terrace was named after the Earl of Mornington, brother of the Duke of Wellington. Through the window can be seen the rear elevations of 29-36 Mornington Buildings in Mornington Terrace, Camden.
