Description
View of Poplar Station (also known as Poplar East India Road) on the North London Railway, along a busy East India Dock Road, Poplar, looking east. Pedestrians including children, horse-drawn carts carrying dry goods and a horse-drawn tram clearly visible with horse-drawn buses in the distance. Station was closed to passengers in 1944 and subsequently demolished in 1947. The station was rebuilt and reopened as All Saints c1990 as part of the initial DLR rail system. Corner of the original Victorian Poplar Public Baths is visible on the right.
