Description
View of Georgian houses at 8 and 9 at Guilford Street, Holborn. Built c1792-180, number 8 is a three-storey building with attic and basement, built in brick and stuccoed on the ground floor. It is on the corner with Doughty Street. The doorway has a portico with Ionic pilasters and a panelled door with a fanlight. Ground and first-floor windows are etched with signs for Bakers Union Head Office. Second-floor windows display a sign for "Treelex". A placard on the pavement announces "Freehold Sold by Bearn Son & Graves". Number 9 is a three-storey house with attic and basement, built in brick and featuring arched doorways with pilasters, panelled doors and fanlight. Cars are parked in the street, one of them a Volkswagen Kombi van. As of 2020, number 8 is the premises of The Arts Society. The houses are Grade II listed together with attached railings, listing number 1245855.
