Description
First-floor front room in 276 Gray's Inn Road, King's Cross. The three-storey building has accommodation above the ground-floor off licence, with this room being used as a lounge. The room retains some original features such as sash windows, picture rail, cornicing and fire surround, although the fireplace has been boarded up and replaced with an electric fire. The furniture and decor is of mainly traditional design - the patterned armchairs, carved dark wood sideboard, curtain pelmets and three-legged occasional table. It also has several items of more contemporary design such as the celling light fitting and wall clock, and this blending of old and new was typical of many households. 276 Gray's Inn Road is still extant as of 2021 with a ground-floor corner shop and accommodation above.
