Title
Houses in Doughty Street
Description
A view of the rear elevations of a pair of Georgian terraced houses at 29-30 Doughty Street, Holborn. On the left is a single-storey lean-to extension at the ground floor level, many of whose windows are broken. In the centre of the image is a slightly taller extension. Above these, sash windows are at different levels in the elevations, and at the top is a set-back attic storey. Between the houses, loose bricks in a wall end suggest part of the wall has been demolished. Dating from 1794-1810, numbers 29-38 Doughty Street and their railings were Grade II listed in 1974, listing number 1356733. The poet Charlotte Mew (1869-1928) was born and lived at 30 Doughty Street.
