Title
Houses in Doughty Street
Description
A view of the front elevations of a pair of Georgian terraced houses at 56 and 57 Doughty Street, Holborn. The houses have five storeys including a basement and roof dormers and are three windows wide. Number 56 has standard glazing bars dividing each sash of all three windows of its three main storeys into nine, but number 57 has lost these to leave each window consisting of just separate upper and lower sashes. Cars parked in the street include a Standard Ten to the right. Built in the early nineteenth century, numbers 39-47 and 49-62 and their railings were Grade II listed in 1974, listing number 1356734 (number 48, Dickens's house, is listed separately).
