Description
Front elevations of a terrace of four-storey stock brick buildings at 2-24 Calthorpe Street, Clerkenwell. The building at 2-4 Calthorpe Street has a channelled stucco ground floor with a rusticated doorway surround. Above these are visible letters saying 'Turbine furna...', with the rest of the word out of the view. On the ground floor 'Vanfield' can be seen. In the window of 4 Calthrope Street is a sign for the Pall Mall Cutlery Company Limited and directions to their entrance on Grays Inn Road. The rest of the terrace at 6 -24 Calthrope Road is plainer in comparison, with uniform windows and lacking stucco facades. This terrace was constructed by N. Stallwood between 1820 and 1826, although a few of the properties were refronted after 1850. It Grade II listed, listing number 1244306.
