House in Weymouth Street
Description
View of the front elevation of four-storey house 31 Weymouth Street, Marylebone, a terrace town house situated on the south side of the street incorporating the entrance to Weymouth mews. It was built between 1912-13 by Belcher and Joass and was part of the Portland (Howard de Walden) Estate's early twentieth century attempt to restore the residential character of an area deemed too professional. The developer was Henry (Harry) Portlock, chairman of the Gravity Clock Company of 158–162 Oxford Street. The house features a slate roof with neo-Grecian details, a central projecting porch with thin looking columns and an iron balcony above. Number 31 Grade II listed entry number: 1223734.
