Description
Front elevations of houses at 62-63 Upper Berkeley Street, Marylebone, looking south west. Part of a terrace of four storey plus basement, brick-built townhouses with stucco ground floor. Three windows wide with balcony railings to first floor and cast-iron area railings with urn finials protecting the basement well. The buildings have plain glass, arched fanlights and channelled stucco ground floor. Number 63, nearest the camera, has had an additional storey added. An Austin mini and an MG Midget are parked in the street and parking meters and parking bays are visible. A round cast-iron coal hole is visible in the pavement. The buildings lie within the 270-acre estate granted in 1552 to Sir Henry William Portman, Lord Chief Justice to Henry VIII.
