View of 289-297 Regent Street, Westminster, looking north from Margaret Street. The terrace of office-shop blocks are in Portland stone with slate roofs in a classical style. Designed by different architects, numbers 289-293 by C. T. Armstrong, c1935; number 295 by E. Souster, c1935 and (not in view) 313-319 Regent Street and 3 Cavendish Place by Angell and Curtis, 1929-35. The three buildings are Grade II listed, listing number 1235173. In this view, the ground-floor unit at number 289 is occupied by Fortes Grill & Griddle. A sign above the shop entrance reads, 'Marcol House'. Pedestrians are waiting to cross Margaret Street. At right, in front of number 295, a vehicle with 'Monkton' and 'Uxbridge Middx' emblazoned on the rear. A man is standing on it, and equipment and a ladder on the pavement suggest works in progress. Also in view, a cart loaded with equipment.
