View of an Adam four-storey with basement townhouse at 67 Portland Place, Marylebone, looking west, between 65 on the left, and 69 on the corner of Devonshire Street on the right. The c1797 terrace is Grade II* listed, listing number 1227079 (59 to 67), with number 69 separately Grade II listed, listing number 1227088. The building was the former home of Bavarian, William Dettelbach (naturalized British c1899), stockbroker, later Edward Hedley Cuthbertson, and was taken over as the premises of the Royal Air Force Benevolent fund (founded 1919) sometime after World War II. It has been extensively refurbished and part re-built to designs by engineers Cobb and Company with Price and Myers, completed c2011. A resident can be seen at the entrance door, below a fanlight bearing the house number and a monogram gilded on to the glass. Numbers 65 and 69 on either side are currently the premises of Southbank International School and the Turkish Embassy, respectively. Two gentlemen dressed in suits are standing next to, possibly, a Riley 12/4 Falcon, parked in front at the roadside.
