View of the Henry Jarvis Memorial Room at the lower ground floor of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) at 66 Portland Place, Marylebone, looking towards the rear of the building. The room has octagonal recesses in the ceiling surrounded by spotlights, and a carpeted floor. Illuminated pictures hung on the walls include both historical and contemporary buildings, seen together with the foundation stone dated 28th June 1933 in the centenary year of RIBA, laid by patron of the arts and owner of the building plot, Thomas Evelyn Eight Baron Howard de Walden and Seaford, visible below the picture on the far wall. The room is furnished with folding dining tables and stackable dining chairs. The partition, in the left-hand wall, is demountable, facilitating joining of the room and the adjacent Henry Jarvis Memorial Hall (Meeting Room). The room and hall are named after the architect, Henry Jarvis (1816 to 1900). The c1934 neoclassical and Art Deco building by architect George Grey Wornum (1888 to 1957), is Grade II* listed, listing number 1227026. The Henry Jarvis Memorial Room was latterly known as the Jarvis Foyer, Auditorium, currently rebranded as the TAU lounge.
