Doorway in Portman Square
Description
View of entrance door to 37 Portman Square, Marylebone, looking south. The doorway has a four-panel wooden door, a square Gothic transom light and square arch with a dropped keystone, and a stone canopy, above, supported by s-scrolled carved brackets below a dentil frieze, with the underside of first-floor stone balcony, visible above. The stone entrance bridge over the basement well, is lined with simple square cast-iron railings. The building was demolished, and replaced with a modern concrete-framed office building c1974.
