General view southeastwards of the front elevations of 1-12 New Quebec Street, Marylebone. 12 is in the left foreground. Built 1790-1800 as part of The Portman Estate, these are four-storey terraced houses of similar architecture, proportions and style, with shops or other commercial premises at ground floor. 8-12 have lost their area railings and basements, whilst some of those further in the background still retain them. At the upper floors, the properties are of dark brickwork, are either three or two windows wide, and their sash windows are decorated either with brick flat arches or entablatures. The fascias indicate a variety of trades, including a hairdresser, Michelle, a florist and an antiques shop. The roof level of most of these properties is hidden by a brick parapet, though 8 and 7 have mansards with dormers. Some of these properties have since become Grade II listed, including Number 1, listing number 1224721.
