Description
View eastwards of the front elevation of 37 Newman Street, Fitzrovia, and adjacent properties and porchway. 37 is a five-storey terraced stone-faced property with a shop at ground floor. The shop door is to the left and has glazed panels, and a display window to the right, identifying the business as Music Sales Limited. 'To Let' advertising hoards project over the display window, and also three floors of canted bay windows of leaded lights. A carved motif on the front of each stone bay is repeated in the stained glass of the bay windows. At roof level there is a wide dormer above the canted bay. The shop entrances of 37 and 38 are side-by-side, and a pair of windows rises above them at second to fourth floors. At roof level is a stone gable with two dormers and an imposing stone, cowl-shaped hood projecting from a pediment. To the right of 37 is a stone arch entrance porch, with wood-panelled double doors (the right-hand door is open) and lights above.
