Title
Interior of a house in New Cavendish Street
Description
View of first-floor front room ceiling at 63 New Cavendish Street, Marylebone, featuring elegant plasterwork adorning part of the ceiling. In particular, much use is made of symmetrical fan-like decoration at the corners of the room, and petal-shaped decorations around the central plasterwork. The design emphasises classical symmetry with areas of decoration bounded by oval and circular arcs. The sepia-toned photo shows the use of different colours. This townhouse, built in 1775-7, is Grade II listed, listing number 1266745.
