A view of 5-9 Marylebone Mews, Marylebone. Built late 1760s as stables for houses in Welbeck Street. In the foreground, number 5 Marylebone Mews, which backs on to 29 Welbeck Street, with two large garage doors on ground floor and above at right a sash window and at left a long window with hooks in the lintel, possibly original when the premises was a warehouse or garage. There is a face in the long window looking down at the photographer. Adjacent numbers 6-7, which back on to 27 and 26 Welbeck Street. The building is two storeys, white painted brick; a flat roof on number 6 with five narrow windows on ground floor and two larger sash windows on second storey. At number 7, a pedimented gable and pitched roof; three windows beneath and below a door and two windows. The difference in style and window surrounds shows the buildings were separate and later joined as one building. Numbers 8-9 retain the original stabling spaces within a large square entrance and two arched entrances. Above four sash windows on second storey and a three-windowed attic extension built on to the flat roof above. On the wall of number 6 is a sign: 'No Parking', in front of which are several cars: a Mini, a Mini with soft top, a Peugeot, registration YMO 212T, and an Austin.
