Title
House in Tapley Street
Description
View of the derelict two-storey Victorian terraced house at 15 Tapley Street, Poplar, during demolition. Ground-floor windows have been boarded up with corrugated iron sheets and old panelled doors have been used to cover the first-floor windows. By the remains of the front door is an iron boot scraper. Boot scrapers were placed on buildings during the Victorian era to allow for mud and horse manure to be removed from boots as streets became dirtier as a result of the heavy use of horses. Tapley Street no longer exists and the grounds of Langdon Park School now cover the site.
