View of Tibbatt's Road
Description
View of Tibbatts Road, Bromley-by-Bow, looking towards Devons Road and St Andrew's Hospital and its five-storey nurses' accommodation in the distance.

Further off is 1960s two-storey housing and a block of flats on the Coventry Cross Estate in Devas Street, which was built by the London County Council in 1935. St Andrew's Hospital was originally built in 1871 as the Poplar and Stepney Sick Asylum and was extended throughout the nineteenth century. The nurses' home was built on the south-western end of the hospital in 1896.

Between Tibbatt's Road and the hospital are railway sidings for the London and North Western Railway's locomotive depot behind a concrete wall. On the left are two-storey Victorian terraced houses. On the far right is number 21 Tibbatt's Road, a two-storey Victorian house with a ground-floor garage.

The vacant space to the left of number 21 was the site of houses numbered 1-19. Behind the vacant site is a warehouse at 156a Devons Road. Pedestrians, trees and street lamps posts, cars and a lorry containing barrels are in view.

The buildings in Tibbatt's Road were later demolished and housing was built on the site in the 1980s. St Andrew's Hospital was closed in 2006 and was later demolished and replaced with apartment buildings in 2008. The railway sidings and adjoining railway line were removed and housing was built on the site in the 1980s.
