Description
Front elevation of 5-7 Abbey Road, St Johns Wood. Abbey Road was created in 1829 from an existing farm track called Abbey Lane near to Kilburn Priory. EMI’s Studios are located at number 3, The Beatles who recorded there, named their last studio album Abbey Road. A pair of Gothic-style, semi-detached houses, with two-storeys, basements and attic. Steps lead up to a three-storey entrance bay to the side. A bay window to basement and ground floor topped with crenelations. Finials and plaster crosses on the gables of number 7. Two cars are parked outside. In 1891, the resident of number 5 was Robinson Duckworth (1834-1911), a Cannon of Westminster and Chaplain-in-Ordinary to Queen Victoria and King Edward VII. At number 7 lived widow Sarah Adams, 'Living on own Means' with her two daughters and three servants.
