Description
Front elevation of 3-47 Abbey Gardens, St Johns Wood, looking north east. Originally named St Johns Place, it is a small street off Abbey Road. A terrace of three-storey houses with basements built in 1850. Buildings have projecting porches with Ionic pillars, a continuous bombe cast-iron balcony to the first floor and cornices to the first-floor windows, some with pediments. Numbers 9-41 are Grade II listed, listing number 1357182. In 1891 the houses were occupied by lower middle-class families with occupations including clerk, manager of rubber stamp and printing works, draughtsman, joiner, tailor and telegraphist. A number of cars are parked on the street.
