Description
General view of Commercial Road East towards Limehouse Town Hall, Limehouse, looking west. There is a light covering of snow on the pavement, in the road making the tramlines visible and on the railings of the church yard. On the left is an entrance to St. Anne's Church recreation ground with wrought iron gate piers and wrought iron overthrow with damaged lantern. Further down the road is the front entrance to Limehouse Town Hall. The covered porch is supported by plain pillars and has been reduced in depth since this photograph was taken, possibly during road widening as the original wall and railings have also been set back. The road continues over the Limehouse Cut revealed by the brick wall of the Britannia Bridge and before that Church Row (renamed Newell Street) is the left turn. In the far distance is St. Anne's Rectory which has since been demolished and turned into a park, however the garden wall was retained and Grade II listed in 1973, listing number1065234. The church yard wall, railings, gates and gate piers of St. Anne's Church were Grade II listed in 1973, listing number1065235. The Limehouse Town Hall building was Grade II listed in 1973, listing number1240047.
