Title
Houses in Devons Road
Description
A rear view of properties at numbers 1-9 Devons Road in Bromley-by-Bow. Washing hangs out to dry on a line strung up in one of the back gardens. A line of ramshackle sheds constructed from timber and corrugated iron sheets edge a low crumbling brick wall. In the foreground is a rubble-strewn derelict plot. Pattered curtains are visible in the sash windows overlooking the garden where the washing is drying. These buildings no longer exist, nor is this part of the road still called Devons Road. The site is now occupied by an open space at the foot of Warren House, a tower block on Stroudley Walk, itself the focus of redevelopment.
