Title
Shop in Chrisp Street
Description
A group of shoppers in winter overcoats pause in front of Harris Bach's grocery shop at 92-94 Chrisp Street, Poplar. Tins and jars can be seen stacked in pyramids on counters inside while the shop's shutters on the right-hand side are still closed. An ornate cast-iron street lamp stands in front of the entrance door, which is partially-shuttered. On the right is a rubbish-strewn vacant site, while on the left, at number 96, are the shuttered premises of George Sweetland, a butcher specialising in beef and pork. These buildings no longer exist and the site is now occupied by Chrisp Street Health Centre.
