Shop in Chrisp Street
The former premises of C Kingston's butchers shop at 68 Chrisp Street, Poplar. The display window is boarded up and the shutters have been pulled down across the entrance. The small square-paned transom lights stretching across the width of the property are still visible, although some of the glass is missing. The shop has decorative late nineteenth-century incised fascia lettering and there are mosaic tiles set into the pavement in front of the shop. The shop is flanked by patterned glazed-tiled pilasters and the awning fixtures and fittings as well as the iron meat rail can still be seen. The upper floor sash windows are gaping open. The building no longer exists and has been replaced by a low-rise workshop.
