Demolition of Tryphena Mission in Devons Road
Demolition of the former Tryphena Mission and Poor Workroom Girls' Friend Society at 205-207 Devons Road, Bromley-by-Bow, from the rear. The charities served meals to the poor and destitute. Only the western and northern elevations remain substantially intact; the rest is a chaos of wooden joists, splintered timbers, twisted metal, bricks, plaster, and rubble. Devons Road can be glimpsed beyond corrugated metal fencing on the far right, the scaffolding fronting what remains of the building on the street is also just visible. Beyond are modern flats in Belton Way. Lying across the foreground is the arm of the demolition crane. The site is now part of Furze Green public park.
