House in Emily Street
A view of the front elevation of an end-terrace house at 2 Emily Street, Paddington, near the corner of Westbourne Terrace North, now Bourne Terrace. The house has three storeys plus basement and is two windows wide. Railings surround the basement area and another runs along the balcony. To the left is part of the side elevation, and the rear elevation, of 29 Westbourne Terrace North. Emily Street and the houses no longer exist. A wide area was cleared about 1914 to build Senior Street School, now Edward Wilson School. Bars at the windows of 29 Westbourne Terrace North suggest a business and in 1891 John Alfred Melhuish was listed as a pawnbroker trading at the address.
