View of front elevation of Stephen White hairdressers salon at 89 Devons Road, Bromley-by-Bow, at the junction with Violet Road. The two-storey early nineteenth-century building has a ground-floor shop front with an ornately written advertisement painted onto the glass of the window, in a typical late nineteenth-century style: 'Devons Road Hair Cutting Saloon', 'Shaving and Shampooing' and 'Poudre d' Amour for The Complexion'. Two posters headed 'Queens' are attached to the side wall. Ground-floor window on the side elevation has wooden shutters. Roadworks and a layer of mud covers the cobbled stones of the road outside the shop. On the side of the adjacent number 87 Devons Road is text advertising a 'Glass Cutter'. These buildings were later demolished and replaced by apartment buildings with ground floor commercial spaces between 2017-2020.
