Description
Front elevations of terraced houses at 44-58 Poplar Bath Street, Poplar, looking north-west. The brick built terrace is two windows wide in slightly different styles. Numbers 52-58 nearest the camera are two-storey and appear to have been partially remodelled with new bricks above the first floor. Number 50 is three-storeys and has been rebuilt in a slightly different style to the rest of the terrace. Numbers 46-48 are two-storey with a different arched window style. The houses have patterned curtains in the windows a boot scrapers beside each panelled front door. Numbers 38-44 have been demolished and single-storey garages built on numbers 42-44. The side elevation of number 36 is visible with external chimney flues. In the far background is a single-storey prefab house built after the war at 26 Poplar Bath Road. Small, severely pollarded plane trees grow in the pavement and a small, cast iron lamp post is visible. Poplar Bath Street no longer exists with Smyth Street partly following the same path. These buildings no longer exist and the area is now Storey House Green public park and gardens.
