Description
Rear elevation of end of terrace house at 24 Oriental Street, Poplar, looking east from an upper floor of 65 Morant Street (renamed Rosefield Gardens). The four-storey (including basement) brick built terrace has a small two-storey extension on one side and a single-storey outhouse (possibly an outside toilet) on the other with steps down to the basement between them. Two galvanised steel dustbins and a ladder are visible outside the back door of the extension in the back garden beside a gate set into the high side wall which leads onto Morant Street. The back garden is full of leaves which presumably came from the bare tree at the bottom of the garden to the right of the image (indicating that this picture was taken in winter). On the left is a partial view of the rear elevation of 25 Oriental Street. Oriental Gardens street no longer exists and this is now the location of a low-rise block of social housing flats.
