View from the corner of Old Brompton Road looking towards South Kensington Underground station on Pelham Street. South Kensington underground station is Grade II listed; listing number 1392067. The shops to the left of the tube entrance include an office equipment and typewriter retailer and The Brazilian Yerbama Co., selling Yerbama; ‘Life-preserving Tea’ from Parana in Brazil. Both can be seen on image number 85746. The shops to the left of the entrance known as ‘Station Buildings’ were demolished in the 1970s. Malvern Court, on Onslow Square, is to the right behind a parked Bedford van and a traditional delivery bicycle used by butchers and bakers. There are several pedestrians including a lady with her sweater over her shoulders walking away from the camera on the left; two young men in suits crossing the road; and a woman pushing a traditional coach-built baby’s pram in the distance. Behind the shops on the right are the tall rear elevations of buildings on Thurloe Street, and in the distance on the right, the side and back of 5 Thurloe Square can be seen. This house is known as the Thin House as it is only 6ft wide at the narrow end. On the lamppost in the foreground is a sign on a waste bin for a ‘coin operated laundromat’ on Old Brompton Road.
