It is a three-storey red brick building with basement; the lower side building houses the library and Silk Room. The glass walled top floor of the Perrin Gallery, built in 1929 is seen on the left. A blue plaque commemorating Lord Leighton was erected by London County Council in 1958 to the left of the main door. The building, with houses Leighton House Museum, is Grade II* listed, listing number 1191541. Leighton House Museum is undergoing a major restoration and refurbishment project due to be completed in 2021.
