View looking north-east of buildings occupying 240-250 Southampton Way opposite the junction with Diamond Street, Camberwell. Large brick built industrial building on left of image with stacked metal drums, gated entrance and perimeter wall. Broken glass embedded in cement and barbed wire on perimeter wall to deter intruders. Three people standing outside the gate. Ford E83W light commercial vehicle (registration ULT 203) and Austin A40 Cambridge parked on Southampton Way at number 248. The main business on this section of Southampton Way was the manufacture of gummed and coated papers and adhesives by Samuel Jones and Co. who operated substantial factories in the area. It is unclear if the industrial building in the image was connected to Samuel Jones & Co. The buildings in the image have since been demolished and the land is now part of the Southampton Way Estate of high rise residential accommodation.
