Turin Street school in the background. Just in view on the left is Stuart House part of the Avebury Estate that was to swallow up the are as was the nearby school. Three large buildings dominate the view with the Columbia road school in the background, and Gossett Street school nearest. The tall isolated building before the school is in the school grounds. some of the front elevations of houses in Daniel street can be seen behind the school buildings. In the rear yard of number 21 a clothes mangle is against a rear wall with washing pegged out on the line above. Next door at number 19 a variety of objects are in the back yard; pails, a dustbin, pots and pans, kettle, hammer. At the end of the yard adjoining several properties is a derelict outbuilding. A gap in the houses is where numbers 33-43 Satchwell Road once stood. All these building no longer exist and have become greensward between the blocks of flats that of the Avebury Estate.
