Description
Looking into the lightwell at Suffolk House, 5 Laurence Pountney Hill, City of London, a narrow space between the buildings with windows lining each storey. Suffolk House and the neighbouring Norfolk House, tall neo-Gothic buildings, were designed in the 1880s by R.B. March and named after a house belonging to the Duke of Suffolk which stood on the site in the fifteenth century, and which had connections to the Duke of Norfolk. Both buildings were demolished in the 1994 and replaced with Governors House, an office block designed by Sidell Gibson Architects.
