A chimneypiece on the first floor of Old Pewterers' Hall, Lime Street, City of London. The room and surround of the fireplace is fitted out in wood with a shelf above the centrepiece. A double tier table can be seen to the left. The first hall, which was built in 1496, burnt down in the Great Fire of 1666. This detail is from the second hall of 1670 (designed by Sir Christopher Wren in 1668), which was burnt in 1840. This photograph was taken in 1932, the year of its demolition.
