Description
View of the master's parlour coffered ceiling with embossed detail at Old Pewterers' Hall, Lime Street, City of London. Light floods through the window and a clock and lamp are visible. An upper level has boxes stacked. The first hall, which was built in 1496, burnt down in the Great Fire of 1666. This detail is from the second hall of 1670 (designed by Sir Christopher Wren in 1668), which was burnt in 1840. This photograph was taken in 1932, the year of its demolition.
