Rear elevations of 129-133 Westbridge Road, Battersea. This group was originally built in c1725-50 as a three-storey house flanked by a pair of two-storey cottages. Numbers 129-131 Westbridge Road (centre and right) formed part of the Royal Laundry premises from c1938 until c1971, and a painted sign advertising the business is still visible on the side wall of 129 Westbridge Road. Further laundry works buildings to the rear had already been demolished by the time of this photograph and the cleared space serves as a car park for an Austin 1100 and a Commer van, which has signwriting for the St Mungo Community Trust. Now derelict, ground-floor openings have been bricked up, and upper storey windows are broken or boarded up with corrugated iron. These buildings were saved from subsequent demolition and listed in 1981.
