Derelict site at 13 Battersea High Street. In the centre is London House, built by James Bennett c.1780, linen draper whose plaques still decorate the front of the property. It is believed he redeveloped an existing property on the site, infilling and closing a gateway to the yard and workshops beyond. To the left, a three-storey terrace, a mixture of residential and commercial properties, here surrounded by scaffolding, including the former Purewite laundry to the left of the photograph. A corrugated iron hoarding has been erected in front of London House, a postbox and street furniture is visible and a crane can be seen in the background. These buildings have since been redeveloped into the Battersea Square development, with London House a restaurant owned by Gordon Ramsay.
