Description
View along Monument Street, City of London, looking south-east towards Lower Thames Street and Billingsgate Market, which is visible in the background. Two men, with their backs to the camera, are standing at the entrance to Billingsgate Buildings on the right; a partly-obscured sign for '[...]antlin Bro[s]' is shown in one of the windows. Buildings with shopfronts on the left include the premises of C.R. Macklin, photographic printers. A Mini Cooper is one of the five cars parked along the road, and a few people are vaguely visible by the market building. The Billingsgate Market building still exists and is now a hospitality and events venue known as Old Billingsgate; it is Grade II listed, listing number 1358911. However, the area around it has been redeveloped.
