Description
Illustration advertising one of the ‘exhibits’ of “Bosjesmans” at the Egyptian Hall, Piccadilly. The group supposedly performed a national dance, hunting scene, war attack and a 'conversational interlude'. The term “Bosjesmans” is a 17th century Dutch term that often get changed to “Bushmen”, is a slur for Africans (and their descendants) who escaped from slavery in Suriname and Guyana in South America and settled in inaccessible interior/mountain areas in South Africa.
