Built by the Port of London Authority in 1930 to maintain the water level in the Surrey Commercial Docks. After the docks were closed, the pump machinery was moved to the nearby Brunel Museum to be preserved. Once known as the Pumphouse Education Museum, it housed Rotherhithe Heritage Museum and later the Peek Frean Museum before it closed. It is now a nursery and family club.
