This view shows Thames Cottage, an eighteenth-century stucco fronted house at 1-2 Thames Bank, in the Mortlake conservation area of Richmond-upon-Thames. It was Grade II listed in 1951, listing number 1261996. It was for a time divided into two properties but is believed to have been restored to a single dwelling and has had some extension work to the rear in recent years. Its frontage appears to be little altered since the photograph was taken. Two cars, one a Ford Capri the other an unidentified saloon, are shown part-visible parked in the space in front of Thames Cottage, possibly owned by patrons of The Ship, its neighbouring property. Just visible beyond to the right of view is Asplin Cottage, listed locally as a Building of Townscape Merit.
