Description
This view shows three Victorian villas of individual design to the south of Fairfax Road, Teddington, mostly obscured by substantial trees in their front driveways. Believed to have been built during the 1860s-1870s, all are listed locally as Buildings of Townscape Merit. Number 141 to the left of view is also known as Brookfield. Its brick frontage has been little altered since, although the mature tree shown has since been felled. Number 143 behind the trees to the centre of view may have been built in the grounds of number 141. Number 145 to the right of view has a grander scale with single prominent gable to the left of its yellow brick front elevation, again hidden from view, and dormer windows to its attic. The lower chimney stack to the rear of its flanking elevation has since been removed. The impressive Cedar tree shown in its front garden is thought to be still in place. There appear to be sun motifs in terra-cotta panels set into its brick front boundary wall.
