Elizabeth Cottages is a single-sided cul-de-sac of two-storey terraced cottages in the Kew Gardens conservation area of Richmond-upon-Thames, leading off Sandycombe Road by the Kew Gardens Hotel. Believed to have been built in around 1880, these relatively unaltered artisans' cottages comprising three blocks of five cottages, each central one standing slightly forward with a transverse ridge and gable, are listed locally as Buildings of Townscape Merit. A detached cottage of similar design at Number 16 was added around twenty years later. This view shows the group at number 1-5, partly obscured by a tree in number 3's front garden. The symmetry of this block has since been lost as it was extended by a single end-of-terrace cottage of similar design, now at 1A, during the 1980s. Number 4 is shown with an inset space to its ranch-style boundary fence with a plastic dustbin stowed, but the fences have since been replaced or walled to present a more traditional appearance.
