Cambrian Road, off Queens Road and providing a pedestrian gateway to Richmond Park, lies within the Richmond Hill conservation area of Richmond-upon-Thames. There are a number of two- and three-storey mid-to-late nineteenth century houses of mixed style listed locally as Buildings of Townscape Merit. This view shows the semi-detached houses at numbers 36 and 38, then at far end of the road on the north side. Since this photograph was taken, a new house has been built in complementary styling in the space to the right of picture, now number 40. Number 38 has a basement level garage conversion and driveway, and number 36 also now has a driveway. The side entrance of number 34 to the left of picture has also been extended to first-floor level, filling the gap between both houses, although still set back from their facades. A BMW 2002 can be seen parked in the road in front of number 36.
